ABSTRACT We present long-term numerical three-dimensional (3D) simulations of a relativistic outflow propagating through galactic ambient medium and environment, up to distances ?100 kpc. Our aim is study the role dense media in global dynamics radio source. use gas equation state, basic description thermal cooling terms. In previous work, we showed that linear perturbation could enhance jet propagation during early phases evolution, by introducing obliquity reverse shock. Here, show this effect reduced denser media. find dentist-drill acts earlier, due slower an increased growth helical instability. The morphology less elongated, with more prominent lobes. fundamental physical parameters generated structure derived from our fall within estimated values for FRII jets 3C sample. agreement axisymmetric 3D lower density media, conclude shock heating interstellar intergalactic very efficient case powerful, jets.
